O LORD, you have searched me and known me! You know when I sit down and when I rise up; you discern my thoughts from afar. You search out my path and my lying down and are acquainted with all my ways. Even before a word is on my tongue, behold, O LORD, you know it altogether. You hem me in, behind and before, and lay your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high; I cannot attain it.
Psalms 139: 1-6 (ESV)
Hello! My name is Arianna, but everyone just calls me Ari. I created this blog back in December of 2012 based around my love for the Lord and writing. Though there have been many hiatuses and bumps in the road, I do try my best to make posts when I can.
Regarding the normal “About You” questions, I live with my parents since I’m still a teenager, have one older sister, and just a single fish now. My hobbies include reading, knitting, crocheting, the occasional sewing, fencing, and playing the piano. My favorite color is purple; my favorite food is popcorn and french fries; and my favorite number is 11.
Why is the blog called Highlight & Write?
Well, I love to highlight. Whether it be my favorite part in a book or what I read in my Bible that day. I also love to write uplifting stories with strong female leads. The name sorta kinda rhymes and stuck in my head after I thought of it.
Verse of the Day
In the late summer of 2012, I started sending out a verse for the day via email to my parents and grandparents. I then made a calender and printed it out. When I got this blog that December, I decided that posting my verses of the day would be a good idea. I admit….I’m not all that great about posting them everyday, but I’m learning the benefits of WordPress scheduling!
UPDATE: I recently discovered that you can now upload documents to your blog! The 2016 calendar is in PDF format and will be uploaded in a post each year but also on the About page for convent access.
Highlight & Read
Reading is one of my favorite things to do and I’m always on the look out for great new series/novels so I created an online book club. Currently, the book club is on hiatus until I can find a new platform to host it on. Updates to come!
Song of the Week
My music diet is basically Christian songs. So every week I try to find a song to post. I go through Youtube so there is the occasional ad. I am in NO control of the ads. I try to pick a video that doesn’t give me an ad when I click on it, but that method doesn’t always work.
The Diary of a Writer Girl
Being a writer is harder than it seems! In these posts I talk about what I’ve been struggling in my writing lately and I try to add what’s been on my heart lately too.
A Moment With Me, Ari
These posts usually tell about something that’s happened in my life recently. They’re not all that exciting, but it allows me to get some stuff off my chest!
Highlight & Contest
I did a contest once on the blog and ever since have been trying to find more unbiased, blog-friendly contest to do. So far I got nothing. I might do the same Valentine contest next Valentines Day. We’ll see! If you have any ideas for a contest please leave a comment!
Highlight & Craft
As I said above I like to sew, knit, and crochet. I sometimes post what I’ve made in this catagory.
Highlight & Poll
When I found out I could do polls, I admit I was ecstatic! I use polls to let readers interact with the Berkshire County Chronicles stories. Most of my polls in the past have been polls to name a new baby or babies. Sometimes I state that you can vote more than once on a poll. To vote more than once on a poll you must clear your cookies.
The Berkshire County Chronicles
The Berkshire County Chronicles is a series that I created especially for this blog. I discontinued the series in 2015, but I did mange to finish one book in the series, Natalie. If you’re interested in reading one of my first stories, feel free to dig it up! It has a satisfying ending, so no cliffhangers or anything!
This category usually contains holiday well wishings and things that don’t go into any of the other categories. Sometimes I forget to select a category for something and the post ends up in this category by mistake.
If you have any more questions or would like me to do a birthday shout out please email the blog at firstname.lastname@example.org
